Reports have it that HP is leaving the public cloud business because of its frustrations with competing with Amazon, Google and the rest of the market.
In an interview with the paper Bill Hilf, the head of HP’s cloud business revealed that the firm has realised that it has made something of a mistake in pursuing the market.
“We thought people would rent or buy computing from us,” said Hilf to the paper. “It turns out that it makes no sense for us to go head-to-head.”
HP is competing against companies like Amazon here, and will have been looking to tempt consumer services like Netflix onto its hardware. While it will still serve the market, it will do so in a different way.
