Storage will play a big part in the new partnership, as large enterprises served by T-Systems will now see Huawei provide hardware and solutions, and T-Systems will provide network management and network.
The news was announced today at Huawei’s innovation Day event in Europe, and is part of Deutsche Telekom’s aim to become the largest telecoms company in Europe and more than double its €1 billion (£723m) revenues from business cloud customers by 2018.
There was no definite definition on prices, but Deutsche Telekom said it will offer ‘very attractive’ pricing on the level with the likes of Google and Amazon.
Speaking at the Huawei Innovation Day in Munich, the Chinese firm said it is keen to work with telecoms heavyweights across Europe and that the new deal will see it and Vodafone develop enterprise communication and technology services.
The two companies have a long-standing history of working with each other, having previously cooperated in infrastructure and devices development and enterprise technology across the world.
Huawei conducted small cell tests at Vodafone’s Newbury headquarters last year, using the operator’s 2.6GHz spectrum.
“We have worked with Huawei across various parts of our business and this agreement to focus on the enterprise market is an important evolution,” said Vodafone Group Enterprise chief executive Nick Jeffery. “There is an opportunity for us both to bring our expertise to bear on some of the key challenges in the enterprise market.”
