Apple released new updates for iOS, watchOS, and the HomePod on 22nd July. The latest updates are stable releases for the operating systems and are available to the public instantly.
The new iOS release, version 12.4, introduces a new migration feature for the iPhone. It allows the iPhone to wirelessly transfer data between iPhones. That means when you pick up a new iPhone, you can use this new wireless migration feature to transfer data from your old iPhone to your new iPhone wirelessly. And this new system could be faster than the existing migration feature that uses iCloud, and it’s also capable of transferring a lot more data than before. So next time you get a new iPhone, you won’t have to worry about dealing with iCloud backups and a slow network connection.
There’s also some murmurs about iOS 12.4 enabling support for the Apple Card. The company is expected to officially launch the Apple Card sometime this Summer, and with the launch just around the corner, the Apple Card software is probably already included in iOS 12.4. Apple will likely enable the feature remotely once the Apple Card launches.
Apple has also released watchOS 5.3 yesterday, and it comes with a critical fix to the Watch’s Walkie Talkie feature that could allow one to secretly listen in on your iPhone without your knowledge. Apple had temporarily disabled the feature after the vulnerability was discovered, and the company even claimed that no one had exploited the feature before it was publicised. With watchOS 5.3, the Walkie Talkie feature is back on Apple Watches, and this time no one should be able to listen in on your recordings without your consent.
